first and last

I got an email this morning from a talented young photographer who happened to attend a wedding I shot two years ago. He was kind enough to include a photo from that wedding and I thought I’d share it here.
This is the first and most likely the only time I post a picture of myself. I like this photo because it just poses so many questions and leaves me wondering what was going on. Also, am I really that tall?

Thanks to Eric Strauss for the photo. Check out his site here.

peacock

First off, I want to tell you that I am very very angry and I have a bone to pick with a puffy peacock. This feathered hooligan offered initial amusement at a recent wedding when it walked into a photo shoot and placed itself between the camera and the bridal party. That’s fine, no big deal. Actually kind of cute.
However, after repeated pleas from my part the cocky bird (pun intended) did decide to move a few feet so that we could continue with the picture taking. And then, all of a sudden -the bird must have been offended when it no longer was the center of attention- without any warning attacked me. It clawed at my legs with its sharp chicken feet and flapped its wings and in the process nearly ruined my suit. Perhaps I had it coming, perhaps I was intruding on his lawn. Anyway, I am angry at that peacock.

Nicola and John are an amazing couple with a great story. Nicola is a professional dancer and John is a singer and entertainer that met while working on a cruise ship. Nicola is originally from England so half the guests flew in from across the Atlantic to attend the wedding. The cultural mix and the tangible energy between the couple made this an unforgettable event and one heck of a night.

Yep, anytime now.

John swore he would not sing at his own wedding but my guess is that he gave in to peer pressure. I am glad that he did because he did an amazing version of “New York New York”.

Nicola and her mother during the “traditional” parent dance. Nicola comes from a talented family and her mother is also a dancer and they surprised everyone by tap dancing.

The guests departed in a school bus to the delight of the European visitors.
